Tyron Woodley vs. Vicente Luque might become a reality in UFC 260! The MMA fever is going high in this new year ever since Max Holloway and Calvin Kattar went the distance against each other. Every event, whether fight night or PPV event, features the most entertaining fights with excellent match-ups. And UFC 260 is no different. Featuring 2 championship bouts, this one’s going to be a huge blockbuster. The event is being headlined by the heavyweight championship bout between Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou. Besides the main event, the co-main event will mark the second title defense of 145lb king Alexander Volkanovski against Brian Ortega.
But another matchup is under talks to increase UFC 260’s appeal even more- Tyron Woodley vs. Vicente Luque. Though it might seem to be an interesting matchup, stylistically it is actually a bad one.

Tyron Woodley Is Way Past His Prime While Vicente Luque Is A Promising Young Prospect
The Chosen One is 38 years old, way past his prime. Even though he is the former 170lb champion, he’s on a 3 fight losing streak which started with him losing his strap to Kamaru Usman. He has fell down to #7 in welterweight rankings just within 2 years since losing the belt. It surely raises serious concerns on Woodley’s ability to remain as an elite fighter during what seem to be the final years of his illustrious career. It would be unfortunate if he ends up like Robbie Lawler who was vicious during his prime but waned off during his final years.

Talking about Vicente Luque, the 29 year old can be considered to be in his prime and is on a 2 fight winning streak after coming off a decision loss against Stephen Thompson. A good standup fighter with a background in Muay Thai kickboxing, he also possesses the caliber to make his opponents tap out against him. His statistics are as impressive as his skills. Out of 12 victories in the UFC, he has knocked out 8 of his opponents besides submitting 3 more. All of that while this man has just entered his prime.
Stylistic Comparison Between Woodley And Luque
While Woodley is a wrestler, Luque prefers standup combat by virtue of his Muay Thai credentials. Since wrestlers have the control and dominance to control the pace of the fight and the direction in which it is going, the former might be a problem for The Silent Assassin.
On the other hand, you can’t also underestimate Luque. He’s a feared knockout artist that can dominate his opponents on the feet as well as on the ground. It looks like he Tyron Woodley has the upper hand in this fight. But, you can’t underrate The Assassin too. There are still good chances that he might come out victorious if both men meet. The reason? He’s well in his prime going toe-to-toe against a legend who is way past his prime. But stylistically speaking, if this fight becomes official, then Woodley may have a good chance to snap his losing streak.
Looking at the resumes of both men, it is very likely that the outcome of the fight will be based on the judges’ scores. And the victor is more likely to be Tyron Woodley. But, inside the octagon anything can happen, so you never know. Nevertheless, it will be one hell of a fight.
