Despite being in the UFC since July of 2020, Khamzat Chimaev never fails to headline in the news. He is undefeated in the UFC with winning all his four fights and that simply makes him one of the hardest hitting welterweights.
Recently, the Swedish fighter got in the headlines for starting an altercation at one of the mma events in Sweden as seen in the footage. He was watching one of the fights where the referee stoppage was speculated to be too early. At this point, disappointed Chimaev already created a commotion infront of the man videoing the altercation.
The security officials had to take charge and entered the octagon to make sure that the two fighters maintain discipline. The defeated fighter could not stand on his feet as Chimaev tried to barge into the cage. Not surprising at all coming from the Russian as this sounds familiar to the altercation between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dilion Dannis. The eagle jumped outside the cage to “smesh” Dilion after finishing the Notorius Conor McGregor at UFC 229.
Can Khamzat Chimaev beat Kamaru Usman?
That would indeed be a very interesting matchup as both Usman and Chimaev have similar fighting styles with a blend of both mixed martial arts and freestyle wrestling. The Nigerian-American has the most impeccable record beating some of the big names Like Colby Covington and Jose Masvidal not once but twice.
How ever, Gilbert Burns looks to be the next matchup of Khamzat as both the fighters have mutually agreed to fight on April 9th. This for the Russian monster Chimaev is the best opportunity to get his potential title fight against Kamaru. Usman has already been victorious against Gilbert finishing him in the third round of their fight. Gilbert Burns stands second in the welterweight rankings. This makes Chimaev to take this fight with all seriousness as this can be an early make or break challenge for him.
The 10-0 record holder is training hard and would do anything to get his hands on the welterweight title. Usman on the other hand has defended his belt for the fifth time by standing victorious against Colby Covington at UFC 268.
This happens to be the Nigerian Nightmare’s 15th consecutive win. Gilbert Burns is the only hurdle between this fight. The Usman- Chimaev battle is an absolute treat to the mma fans and is easily the most awaited match-up of the year.
