Rafael dos Anjos has called out Justin Gaethje after the former interim champion took to Twitter to explain his situation in the lightweight division. Soon after UFC President made Nurmagomedov’s retirement official, the promotion announced that Michael Chandler will take on Charles Oliveira for the vacant lightweight championship at UFC 262. Needless to say, the announcement surprised many fans who were left wondering what’s next Justin Gaethje.
Earlier, it was reportedly ESPN journalist Ariel Helwani that the UFC is working on a potential match-up between Michael Chandler and Justin Gaethje. So, when the news of Chandler vs Oliveira came out, it definitely took my fans by surprise.

Additionally, for Chandler to get the shot at the title with just one fight inside the Octagon did not go too well with many fight fans. Gaethje took to Twitter to explain his situation and stated that he was indeed looking forward to a fight against former two-time Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler.
Now, Rafael dos Anjos has expressed an interest in the match-up and asked Gaethje to wait for him. The Highlight explained that he was expecting a fight agreement for a May 15 bout with Michael Chandler. However, that wasn’t the case as he woke up to the news of Oliveira vs Chandler for the vacant belt.
Justin Gaethje vs Rafael dos Anjos is as exciting as it gets
Gaethje will get his shot at the title sooner or later. However, he would need another win to his name. With UFC lightweight division looking really stacked, and the top-5 fighters other than Gaethje already booked or set to fight, it appears like Rafael dos Anjos could actually be a great option for Justin Gaethje to seal his shot at the title.
