It is no surprise that with fame comes a little bit of notoriety, and in the case of Sean O’Malley, perhaps a lot more of it. The no. 2 ranked UFC bantamweight is not new to wrapping himself around controversial headlines, maybe the most right after Conor McGregor and Jon Jones. The Phoenix resident has had his fair share of both admiration and hate from the MMA community.

Recently, Sean’s close friend and notorious rapper ‘Tekashi 69′ was found beaten to a pulp in a Los Angeles gym. The rapper has been in news for a while now, mostly for all the wrong reasons. His real name is Daniel Hernandez, but he famously goes by his stage name Tekashi 69, or just 6ix9ine. The 26-year-old was relaxing in a sauna at an LA fitness gym. However, reports say there was no security around him and he was all by himself.

Grabbing this as an opportunity, a group of men ambushed him and brutally attacked him inside the South Florida gym. The resulting injuries from the Tuesday night incident were so bad that he had to be rushed to a hospital. A viral photo of Tekashi 69 from the hospital made rounds, making the swelling and gashes to his face evident. The unidentified group of men left the New York-born rapper with injuries to his back, jaw, and ribs.

However, it isn’t clear at this stage whether this is in any way related to the 26-year-old’s early release from the federal prison in 2020. Tekashi’s attorney, Lance Lazzaro stated that he will be contacting the federal police right away to provide the necessary protection “he clearly needs.”

Tekashi 69 is good friends with Sean O’Malley

UFC’s rising star Sean O’Malley has been under the spotlight for a number of controversial reasons. And having a close bond with 6ix9ine tops them all. The no. 2 ranked bantamweight has never shied from showing his bromance with the notorious rapper on social media.

Despite having totally different professions, 6ix9ine and ‘Suga‘ have somehow seemed to bloom quite a friendship between themselves, albeit controversial. Sean has famously walked out to a 6ix9ine song at one of his UFC bouts in the past. Not only that, in July 2021, O’Malley went out of his way to get the number ’69’ tattooed on his shoulder by the rapper himself.

On one of Steve-O’s “Wild Ride!” podcast episodes, O’Malley was asked to explain his friendship with Tekashi and the bold moves he’s made related to it. The 28-year-old chose to be a man of few words. He said, “The more popular you get, the more money you get, you can give less f**ks. I did get a lot of heat from that. But then I still posted a picture with him afterward.”

What do you think about O’Malley’s blooming friendship with the criticized rapper? Let us know in the comments down below.
