Both Israel Adesanya and Kamaru Usman are at the top of their division. Moreover, Kamaru Usman is also the P4P best fighter. So, the obvious question that fights fans often ask is if any one of them ever decides to fight in a different division, will they ever fight each other.
It is no secret that the duo shares a special bond since they both come from Nigeria. However, Usman’s manager Ali Abdelaziz while talking with TMZ sports once said that he wants Kamaru to face Israel after fighting Leon Edwards.
“I want him to beat Leon Edwards and then I want him to go fight Israel Adesanya for the middleweight title,” said Ali.
But, all these validate nothing as far as the fighters don’t want to face each other. That’s what is happening in this situation. Israel and Kamaru have previously denied multiple times if they would fight each other.
Recently, while talking with “Mac Life” Israel was questioned about managers trying to start a conflict when fighters themselves haven’t shown any interest in fighting. To which the Middleweight champion funnily replied:
“Why would you do such a thing Tim( his manager). It’s my brother, you want me to fight my brother? Why would you do such a thing… You want the attention for yourself. Don’t try to put me and my brother against each other. Better watch yourself. Do you want clout? Do you want to be on TV with your peanut head? ”
Adesanya stated it all in a funny accent and made a joke about it. However, it is certain that he doesn’t want to fight with Kamaru Usman as it would make one of the “African Pride” fall and they won’t want that. It seemed like the rant was for Ali but Adesanya funnily used his own managers’ name while conveying the message.
Does Kamaru Usman want to fight Israel Adesanya?
However, Ali previously mentioned that Both are not best friends. In his interview with TMZ sports Ali said:
“Listen, these guys, they’re cool but I don’t think they’re best friends…If there is enough money for both of them to fight, they will fight in the parking lot. I know how people work. This has nothing to do with loyalty, because these guys, it’s not like they’re training partners or brothers. They’re African brothers and that holds a lot of value … but at the end of the day, I’m Kamaru Usman’s team all the way. I want to see Kamaru Usman, before the end of the road, have two titles. I’m selfish, I’m greedy, and I think Kamaru deserves it”
While Ali feels Kamaru deserves the title, Usman has also shared a similar opinion on it since last November.
“Adesanya is my guy, that’s something me and him would have to discuss. There’s a difference between fighting and competing…If I and him decide we want to compete, and the UFC is throwing $100 million at us, then we’ll make it happen” Usman told ESPN before his UFC 268 fight against Colby.
Nevertheless, if this super fight ever gets scheduled, it will be nothing but a treat to fight fans’ eyes. What do you feel? Will the African brothers fight each other for $100 million dollars or will it take more? Do let us know in the comment section.
