Not so long ago Khamzat Chimaev entertained the fight fans with one of the best fights we have seen in recent times. Chimaev went to war with one of the toughest fighters in the welterweight division, Gilbert Burns at UFC 273.
Though Khamzat Chimaev could not get a finish as predicted he was able to put on a stellar performance against a former number one title contender.
Recently, Khamzat Chimaev’s official youtube channel released a video that captures his journey during the fight week. The video is filled with some great moments including Chimaev’s interactions with many other UFC fighters.
One such interaction between Khamzat Chimaev and UFC middleweight, Joaquin Buckley has caught the fans’ attention. After the ceremonial weigh-in for UFC 273, Joaquin Buckley confronted Darren Till and called him out for a fight at middleweight.
Joaquin Buckley even said that he is not chasing after a fight against Khamzat Chimaev since he is focused on competing at welterweight. But, he was certainly interested in fighting the former number one welterweight title contender, Darren Till.
Though Darren Till did not know who Joaquin Buckley was he offered to fight him in July to calm things down backstage. However, Chimaev was not too happy with Buckley’s callout as he said: “Let’s fight now. You want to play gangster, I’m going to f***k you up.”
Chimaev further said; “Nobody knows him. he takes a picture then he talks about he wants to fight.”
Who is Joaquin Buckley and why did he confront Darren Till and Khamzat Chimaev
Joaquin Buckley is a UFC middleweight with four wins in UFC. He lost his UFC debut against Kevin Holland but was able to impress the fight fans with his insane KO over Impa Kasangany. Though Buckley is an exciting fighter he is not ranked in the middleweight division and it’s very unlikely that he will get a fight against Darren Till.
However, his altercation with Khamzat Chimaev is certainly going the get the attention of the fight fans.
The Smesh bro, Khamzat Chimaev and Darren Till has taken over the MMA world for quite a while now. Ever since Till decided to move to Sweden to train with Khamzat Chimaev and his team following his loss to Derek Brunson, fans have shown a lot of interest in this duo.
Well, Chimaev has secured a win over Gilbert Burns, solidifying his position as a legit title contender in the welterweight division. Whether Darren Till can do the same in his next fight in the middleweight division will be interesting to watch.
