‘The Joe Rogan Experience is a podcast everyone praises for its quality. Climbing the charts and staying there, the podcast by Joe Rogan has gained a huge amount of followers. The podcast, since its inception in 2009, has made a lot of progress. Even after threats for its existence from AI, it still continues to thrive.
The host, Joe Rogan, has invited many famous personalities like Elon Musk, Miley Cyrus, and Mike Tyson. Reportedly, Rogan also invited a person with whom much of the user base of social media sympathizes. Yeonmi Park is a North Korean Defector, i.e. someone who has fled from the country. She is an activist who talks about the atrocities in North Korea across various platforms.

She appeared in episode #1691, where they both had a very heart-warming as well as gut-wrenching conversation about Park’s childhood. Yeonmi had a bad childhood. Bad to the extent that many people can’t imagine a human going through such atrocities. In the episode of the JRE, Park shared many things about the country of North Korea and the condition of people living there.

Park reported a lot of incidents from her childhood that shook Joe Rogan to his core. Yeonmi shared, “Outside the hospital, there are piles of dead human bodies. There I saw rats eating human eyes for some reason…… and you’ll see children like looking at rats and laughing and chasing them.”
Park also commented on healthcare in North Korea. She added, “It’s a normal thing for people to have operations without anesthesia, but the chances of you getting infected are much higher as we don’t have penicillin. The nurse is using one needle to inject every single patient… so you get sick by being in the hospital.”
Yeonmi Park also shared how she and her mother both were sold at a young age. Yeonmi said, “If my mother goes to bring us food, I would not know when I’ll see her again.” Park sharing this, made both Joe and her quite emotional. On the other hand, Rogan also seems horrified and taken aback while listening to all this.
Yeonmi has been an activist since she caught everyone’s attention with her speech at the One Young World Summit in 2014. She has a youtube channel ‘Voice of North Korea by Yeonmi Park’ in which she uploads many more videos other talking about her horrifying childhood. This gives us a glimpse into the not-so-public life of North Koreans.
Joe Rogan’s podcast is appreciated for this very reason. He converses with guests who are experts across many fields. As a result Rogan also ends up in many controversies that are caused by segments on his podcasts. But Rogan doesn’t let it get on his nerves that much.
