UFC Paris is officially in the books and what a finish to the night it was! Ciryl Gane and Tai Tuivasa put on one of the greatest UFC heavyweight slugfests of all time! Although Gane got the win in the third round of the fight, it was a hard-fought win which will go a long way in solidifying how tough his character is!
Fans expected Gane to walk through Tuivasa who wasn’t nearly as skilful as the Frenchman. The first round of the fight was more akin to Gane’s usual pace where he sits back and counters his opponents. However, things started to pick up in the second round.

Not only did it pick up, but it also brought down the house! It all started with a massive overhand right that almost knocked Gane out. Somehow Gane survived it and came back to do some damage of his own. Although Tuivasa’s face was all bloodied up, it was the body shots that did the majority of the damage.
Once Gane got the wind that the body shots were hurting Tai, he just kept on going back at it. It has to be mentioned that the 29-year-old Australian fighter is one of the toughest men in the sport. The shots that Ciryl landed on Tai’s body, any other fighter would have folded after absorbing even two of those.

But Tai survived till the third round, but ultimately Gane’s strikes were too precise for Tuivasa. The ref stopped the fight at the 4:23 minute mark of round 3.

Nobody expected the fight to be as entertaining as it turned out to be in the end. Before this fight, Gane had the reputation of being one of the most technically efficient fighters on the roster. But Tai’s punches found a way through his guard and almost flatlined him. However, Gane persisted and picked up the 11th win of his pro MMA career.
Following the fight, reactions started to flood in from the fans online. Although they had nothing but good things to say about Gane, his body shots were a massive topic of discussion. But Tai Tuivasa also got a lot of praise for the heart that he showed.
