Sharaputdin Magomedov is another Russian UFC fighter with an impressive MMA record. The undefeated fighter hails from Makhachkala, Russia. Interestingly, UFC lightweight champ Islam Makhachev was also born in the same province of Russia.
Sharaputdin Magomedov was born on May 16, 1994. He has a very interesting appearance. Magomedov has ginger hair and a beard. Although he has Dagestani lineage, Magomedov is not a typical wrestler. The 28-year-old also had a tragic incident with one of his eyes in 2018. He had to undergo surgery, which saw him lose two crucial years of his pro-MMA career.
In September 2022, Magomedov spoke about the incident in an interview with Athletistic. Sharaputdin revealed that it took him a lot of motivation to come back to MMA. Being inactive for so long had its toll on Magomedov. He also described the surgery and how horrific it was for him to endure that. Apparently, the doctors had to take his eye out of the socket and even anesthesia did not help him!
“Before the operation, I was mainly afraid of an injection in the eye. I watched this video. Very unpleasant. I thought that was the most boring thing ever. And there were such operations when an injection in the eye had to be made, where it was removed, one might say. At this time, local anesthesia is administered, but you feel everything,” added Sharaputdin.

He also revealed what the doctors told him after his surgery. Magomedov said, “The doctor says: the worst thing that can happen to your eye has already happened. Therefore, you can practice.”
Magomedov, therefore, continued to fight. He was embroiled in several controversies over the years, however, he ended up at the UFC with an undefeated record.

Nicknamed “Shara Bullet,” Sharaputdin Magomedov is an extremely ferocious striker. Although it is unusual for fighters from Dagestan to use striking as the primary weapon, Magomedov is ferocious on his feet. His MMA debut took place against Yincang Bao in 2017. Magomedov knocked out Bao via TKO.
He had 3 fights in 2018 and he won all of them via knockout. He did not fight until 2021 because of his eye surgery. But, there was no dip in his form. Sharaputdin went straight back to knocking out his opponents upon his return. The only decision win of his pro-MMA career was against Mikhail Ragozin at RCC in December 2022.
Before joining the UFC, Sharaputdin Magomedov beat Kushal Vyas at TFC 10 on December 11, 2022. He made his UFC debut at UFC 294 in October 2023 in Abu Dhabi. Sharaputdin defeated Bruno Silva via only his second decision win as he extended his record to 12-0 at the time.
