Jamahal Hill AKA “Sweet Dreams” was recently ranked #12 in the UFC. He is a promising prospect for the promotion and is going to face #10 Johnny Walker in his first-ever UFC main event fight.
Hill started his MMA career in his hometown Grand Rapids, Michigan. He defeated former UFC fighter Dequan Townsend in his fourth fight which was quite massive. Winning all of his first four MMA bouts for Knockout Promotions was enough to catch UFC’s eye.
Soon after, he was called by UFC to appear on Dana White’s contender series 21 back in 2018. Since then, the fighter hasn’t looked back and has only moved forward in the promotion. So, for a fighter who is promising, mature, and as he says “eager to dominate” the light heavyweight division, fight fans must be curious about the reason behind his Nickname “Sweet dreams”. So, let us discuss why Jamahal Hill is nicknamed “Sweet dreams”.
What might be the reason behind Jamahal Hill’s nickname: “Sweet dreams”?
Standing 6 foot 4 inches tall, Jamahal Hill is a dominant fighter inside the octagon. Three of his four wins in the promotion have come via knockout. So, it won’t be wrong to state that Hill often puts his opponents to sleep and that exactly might be the reason behind his nickname.
Hill is a knockout artist and has one of the highest striking rates inside the octagon. With a strike rate of 7.9 per minute inside the cage, Hill almost strikes at twice the rate than UFC hall of fame Jon Jones.
Moreover, his last KO against Jimmy Crute in the 48th sec of the fight was enough to justify the nickname he has. Crute certainly went to sleep after that vicious right hook from Hill. He must have had “sweet dreams” at that point in time.
Hill is currently 4-1-1 inside the promotion and is ready to improve his record at UFC Vegas 48. With Rafael Fiziev having trouble getting his Visa, Walker and Hill got the chance to headline the event.
So, let’s see if Hill grabs on this opportunity to shine while the whole MMA community’s eyes are on the main event of UFC vegas 48. What do you think, can Hill knock out Walker? Do let us know in the comment section.
