Joe Rogan has made his name as a podcaster, standup comedian, and Fear Factor host. Most notably, he makes his appearance cage side as a UFC commentator as well. As such, he has become a permanent fixture of sorts in the world of MMA and combat sports.
Although he initially started out as a stand-up comedian, the martial arts enthusiast always wanted to pursue a career in kickboxing. After a few successful gigs in the late 1980s, Joe landed numerous roles on TV shows and sitcoms. Then, in 1997, Joe got his big break working with the UFC.
From being a backstage and post-fight interviewer, Rogan saw his influence grow rapidly. Eventually, Joe accepted the offer to host Fear Factor in 2001. During the same time, Joe was offered the role of a color commentator with the UFC and has made good on it to this day. Now, with his podcast, JRE, being one of the biggest podcasts in the world, Joe continues to hit new heights.
As such, let’s take a look at something lesser known about Joe Rogan, his childhood, and his family.
Joe Rogan’s Childhood and Family
Born in Newark, New Jersey, on August 11, 1967, Rogan has Irish and Italian roots. Unfortunately, Rogan’s early childhood was not too memorable. When Joe was only 5 years old, his parents got divorced and he was taken to live with his mother, rumored to be Susan Lembo. According to Joe, his memories of his father were limited to “brief, violent flashes of domestic violence”.
Further, in episodes of his podcast, Joe has opened up more about how his father. Apparently, Joseph Rogan Sr. would incite violence against his mother leading to their eventual divorce. Following that, Joe would go on to live in Gainesville, Florida, with his mother and stepfather, before moving to Massachusetts for high school.
Currently, Joe lives with his wife, Jessica Ditzel. After his marriage to Jessica in 2009, Rogan also adopted Jessica’s daughter from her previous marriage, Kayja Rose. Moreover, Joe also has his own daughters with Jessica, Rosy Rogan, born in 2008, and Lola Rogan born in 2010.
As a father, Joe is very involved in his daughters’ lives and does his best to give them a comfortable life. Balancing his podcast, stand-up comedy, UFC commentary, and fatherhood, Rogan is an exemplary individual and family man.
Joe Rogan’s latest controversy with estranged father and sister
As mentioned previously, Joe had very little experience with his biological father. In episode #118 of The Joe Rogan Experience, he stated, “My real father was crazy. He was like a psychotic person who beat the f–k out of my mother, he beat the f–k out of my cousin”. He picked my cousin up by the hair and threw him.”
Now it seems that the past has come calling for Joe. In a viral Tik Tok doing the rounds on social media, Joe Rogan has been called out by his estranged father and one of his half-sisters, Bridget Rogan Carselda. According to the pair, Joe has been spreading falsehoods about Joe Sr. for more than 25 years, without any proof.

In the video, Joe Rogan Sr. says, “I gave you 25+ years, give me 25 minutes, that’s all. I’ll meet you halfway — I’ll go anywhere and meet you. Look me in my face and tell me I’m lying.” Moreover, in the original TikTok video posted on December 21, 2022, Joe’s half-sister also threatened to open a “pandora’s box”. If true, it would be devastating for the podcaster’s career and would disprove everything he has said about his father to date.
Additionally, the pair claim to have contacted Joe over the years, to no response. Thus, they have now chosen to go public and slam the commentator for defaming his father, a former New Jersey police officer. According to Joe Sr., the famous media personality was misled by his mother into believing bad things about him. As of now, there has been no response from Rogan, who will likely try to settle the matter in private.
