Colby Covington makes his much-anticipated return against the former welterweight champion and his old rival, Tyron Woodley. After years of speculation, these two welterweight elites will settle the bad blood inside the steel cage in the main event of UFC Vegas 11.

This would have been a bigger matchup a couple of years ago when Tyron Woodley was the welterweight champion. Nevertheless, both are still two of the best welterweight fighters in the world. And their fighting styles make the fight even more compelling.

However, Colby Covington is supremely confident that he will get his hands raised this Saturday night. On a recent post on Instagram, sponsoring the Bang energy drink, Colby Covington mocked Tyron Woodley. The former interim champion also claimed that he has improved his skill-set immensely since his last octagon appearance.

Colby Covington was on an incredible winning streak before he lost to Kamaru Usman via TKO at UFC 245. But that was an extremely close fight. And had Usman not finished Covington in the final round it would have been a very close decision.

However, Tyron Woodley got dominated against Kamaru Usman for five straight rounds. He was also outclassed against Gilbert Burns in the following fight. But, he survived five rounds against both of them. And that’s something Covington does not aspire for.

Colby Covington looking to finish Tyron Woodley ahead of UFC Vegas 11

Colby Covington wants to make a statement in this grudge match on UFC Vegas 11 as he is coming to get a finish over the former champion. In a recent interview with BT Sport, Covington stated:

“Those guys, they have fought him last. No one knows the last guy that Woodley fought. And then the guy before that, Marty Fake Newsman, you know, yeah he beat him with a decision, but the way I am going to beat Tyron Woodley this weekend is not going to be by decision. It’s going to be violent. And the way I finish him, I feel that puts me in the driver seat to get another title shot.”
