Geoff Neal vs Neil Magny

UFC Vegas 26 features an exciting welterweight bout between ranked number 9 Neil Magny and ranked number 10, Geoff Neal. Both Neil Magny and Geoff Neal are coming from losses in their last fight and they will be looking to get back in the win column with a win at UFC Vegas 26. But, who will be the one that will come out walk out of the octagon with a victory?

Geoff Neal vs Neil Magny Stats

Neil Magny:

Wins/Losses: 24/8 (10 finishes)
Height/ Reach- 6 ft 3 inches/ 80 inches
Striking accuracy- 47%
Grappling accuracy- 45%
Significant wins- Robbie Lawler, Jingjian Li, Carlos Condit

Geoff Neal:

Wins/Losses: 13/3 (10 finishes)
Height/ Reach- 5 ft 11 inches/ 75 inches
Striking accuracy- 49%
Grappling accuracy- 50%
Significant wins- Belal Muhammad, Niko Price, Mike Perry

Geoff Neal vs Neil Magny prediction

Both Geoff Neal and Neil Magny are two of the rising contenders in the welterweight division despite their recent losses. Neil Magny lost to Michael Chiesa who is a solid grappler in the division and Geoff Neal lost to the best striker in the division if not in UFC, Stephen Thompson.

Both also went 5 rounds with their opponent. However, Neil Magny did not look good in his fight against Michael Chiesa. Though Chiesa received a lot of praise for his win that fight was not the best performance by both Chiesa and Magny.

Magny’s ground game did not look impressive at all and it undermined some of his wins where he out grappled his opponents. On the other hand, Geoff Neal, despite not being at his 100% going into the fight, survived 5 rounds with Stephen Thomspon who is just a wizard with his striking.

Geoff Neal vs Neil Magny is going to be a crucial fight in deciding the possible next opponent for KHamzat Chimaev. And though Magny and Chimaev have a rivalry going on the fans might have to wait to see that fight as Geoff Neal is likely to win the fight at UFC Vegas 26.

There is a possibility that Neil Magny will secure a decision win by just doing enough against Geoff Neal on the ground. But, Geoff Neal has shown some impressive takedown defense in the past. His win over Belal Muhammad certainly answers all the questions surrounding his wrestling skills.

Neil Magny does have a huge reach advantage over Geoff Neal but Magny is not one of the best strikers in the division. on the other hand, Geoff Neal is extremely technical and has deadly knockout power.

Neil Magny can be a big threat to Geoff Neal if the fight goes to the ground but Magny does not have any impressive finish on the ground in UFC. He managed to dominate some great opponents like Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit on the ground but he was not able to finish them. On the other hand, Geoff Neal has that killer instinct to go for the finish even in round 1.
