The main event fight is supposed to take place between Grant Dawson and Bobby Green in the lightweight division. Grant Dawson is going to fight at the Apex for the second time this year, with his first being on July 1 against Damir Ismagulov, and came off with a unanimous decision victory. Ismagulov has finished most fights via KO/TKO, making Dawson’s win a remarkable achievement.
Dawson has a record of 20-1-1 winning a majority of his fights via submission, showing how his training at American Top Team gym is paying off. He trains with Mateusz Gamrot who recently won against Rafael Fiziev, although controversial still counts. Fiziev has fought Green in the past and won.
Bobby Green a Strikeforce veteran, recently came off a victory over former lightweight interim champion Tony Ferguson, who isn’t in his prime days any longer. He has been active since 2012 but has been on the lay-off for quite some time, making him the more experienced fighter. His record stands at 30-14-1 with a majority of his fights coming via decision, with fights being against top lightweight contenders.

Dawson packs nasty grappling skills and is most likely going to dominate the fight once he gets hold of Green. The fight is most likely going to end via submission or a decision favoring Dawson, as Green’s durability to go the distance has declined.
Then, there’s always the possibility of Green connecting his punches resulting in a KO/TKO. But, considering how Bobby Green performed in his last fight against Tony Ferguson, it wasn’t up to the mark. This is a perfect match here, as we’ve got a veteran who’s trying to prove that he still belongs in the octagon and an upcoming fighter who’s coming off a statement win against Damir Ismagulov.
