Zabit Magomedsharipov has finally called retirement on his short yet impressive mixed martial arts career. The Dagestani fighter recently notified the UFC of his retirement, and it’s safe to say we might never get to see him compete inside the Octagon ever again.
Zabit Magomedsharipov retires with a record of 18 wins and just one loss under his name. A mixed martial arts journey that started back in 2012 will come to an end after 7 glorious years inside the cage. Magomedsharipov’s last UFC outing came against Calvin Kattar in the main event of UFC Fight Night back in November of 2019.
For as long as he competed inside the Octagon, Zabit remained undefeated with as many as four POTY/FOTY bonuses in six appearances inside the UFC. With notable wins over the likes of Jeremy Stephens and Calvin Kattar, Zabit had a huge hype going behind him during his active career.
Zabit was removed from the UFC rankings last year after more than a year of inactivity. During this course, there were multiple reports that hinted at possible retirement, and now it has been finally confirmed.
Did Zabit Magomedsharpiov ever lose in his MMA career?
Zabit Magomedovsharipov retires with an impressive 14-fight winning streak. Zabit made his UFC debut back in September of 2017 against Mike Santiago; a fight he won via submission in the second round. Zabit was flashy in his approach and quite unorthodox in his striking. Moreover, he was extremely dangerous on the ground, boasting of three submission wins in his six wins under the UFC banner.
It won’t be wrong to say that Zabit faced the toughest challenge of his UFC journey when he took on Calvin Kattar. After a comfortable first two rounds, Zabit had to push through an advancing and more dangerous Kattar in the third round. Be that as it may, he remained undefeated, picking up a unanimous decision victory.
While he may have remained undefeated inside the UFC Octagon, Zabit did have an MMA loss to his name. Zabit came into the UFC with a record of 12 wins and 1 loss to his name.
The only loss of Zabit’s mixed martial arts career came against Igor Egorov via submission in the third round back in April of 2013. Egorov is a mixed martial artist hailing from Russia, and currently boasts an MMA record of 13 wins and 8 losses.
In a fairly one-sided fight that saw Zabit dominate Egorov on the feet, Egorov got the better of the Dagestani fighter in the closing moments of the third round with a stunning armbar.
Egorov has not competed since December of 2019. The fight against Zabit was his seventh professional MMA fight. At the time, he had just one loss to his name.
