While talking about this incredible win, Bol said, “I knew I needed a really good race to win this gold.” The Dutch athlete continued to explain her strategy of opening the race at a fast speed and then continuing the pace until the end. “You have to keep going because you’ll die anyway,” she added. Bol also noted how she as well as her coaches were hoping that she would finish the race in 49 seconds.

Back in 2022, during the European Championships, Femke Bol wrote history by becoming the first woman to win two 400m hurdles at major championships. Interestingly, before the Championships, Bol spoke about her goal to reach this achievement. “I know it’s tough, what I’m going to do, and I don’t know if it’s going to work, but I decided to take the risk,” she said.
