At UFC 266, Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega delivered one of the greatest title fights in the UFC history. “The Great” won the championship bout via unanimous decision. Those who witnessed the bout, were constantly on the edge of their seats. Just ask Israel Adesanya.
But there were some moments in the fight, where it looked like Ortega could become the new champ. In the third round, Ortega first put on a guillotine choke and then later a triangle choke, but both the times Volkanovski escaped.
HUGE SCENES HERE. ????

Israel Adesanya goes crazy when Volkanovski escaped Ortega’s submission attempts
The current UFC Middleweight Champion was watching his City Kickboxing teammate Alexander Volkanovski’s bout very closely. In a recently posted YouTube video on Adesanya’s channel, it can seen that “The Stylebender” was going through a roller coaster of emotions.
Adesanya was totally engrossed in the fight and was clearly concerned for his teammate, when Ortega was trying to submit Volkanovski. When Volkanovski was trapped in the guillotine, Adesanya was unknowingly screaming instructions at him.
Adesanya breathe a sigh of relief when Volkanovski escaped both the submisson attempts.
This is not the first time we see the City Kickboxing teammates root for each other, but when Alexander Volkanovski was crowned the new UFC Featherweight Champion at UFC 245, Adesanya was present in the crowds and was celebrating his teammate’s victory.
Israel Adesanya is coming off a victory over Marvin Vettori at UFC 263. Adesanya is expected to fight Robert Whittaker at the start of 2022. The rematch between them is almost inevitable now.
In their first fight, Adesanya knocked Whittaker out in the second round to become the new champion.
Do you think Whittaker will beat Adesanya in their rematch. Let us know below in the comments section.
