Kamaru Usman’s power was once again on display as he knocked down Colby Covington twice in the closing moments of the second round to close the round with a potential 10-8.
As advertised, Usman and Covington raged into a five-round of fist fight with occasional takedown attempts to put up yet another classic in front of fight fans gathered inside the Madison Square Garden in their attempt to become the UFC Welterweight champion.

Kamaru Usman oozed the same confidence he showed in the lead-up to the fight as he once again showed his improved boxing to dominate Colby Covington in the second round. Joe Rogan also exclaimed during the fight that the “work with Trevor Wittman has paid off.”

Kamaru Usman made great use of Covington’s wide lunges to land a knockout shot. The Nigerian Nightmare showed great wrestling defense, and incredible power to nearly hand a second straight loss to Covington, and close their rivalry once and for all.
However, an ever-resilient and tough Colby Covington managed to withstand the onslaught.

Kamaru Usman dropped Colby Covington twice in the second round, landing several significant strikes to the former interim welterweight champion. However, Covington showed great resilience, bouncing straight back up, and managing to defend himself in the clinch position.

In the past, Kamaru Usman has impressed us with his improved striking, after dominating the welterweight division with his wrestling for the major part of his UFC career.
Even in the win against Tyron Woodley, Usman dominated T-Wood for the better part of five rounds to grab the welterweight championship. However, his recent row of finishes against the likes of Gilbert Burns, and Jore Masvidal goes on to show the all-around fighter that Kamaru Usman has evolved into.
