Aljamain Sterling Blasts Former UFC Referee

One of the most respected referees in the world of MMA, John McCarthy recently made a comment about a fight between Nick Diaz and Kamaru Usman.

John McCarthy said that there is a possibility that Usman would get "lit up" by Nick Diaz on his feet and go back to wrestling to win the fight.

McCarthy received a lot of backlash from the MMA community and the current UFC bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling.

Aljamain Sterling responded: "in what freaking universe are you living in. You are talking about two different eras here. No way that's gonna happen. John McCarthy must be stopped"

Later on, McCarthy clarified his statements on Nick Diaz vs Kamaru Usman after the backlash from fans.

“I don’t think that Nick should be put in against Kamaru. I don’t think that’s the fight. And very simply put, I even said back then, Kamaru wins that fight. What I should’ve said is if Kamaru will start standing up with him, and if he starts to get lit up, he’s going to go right to his wrestling. The ‘if’ should’ve been put in there. I wasn’t saying that he was gonna get lit up.

This is not the first time Aljamain Sterling took a dig at John McCarthy.

Aljamain Sterling had a very close fight with Petr Yan in the rematch.

Aljamain Sterling criticized McCarthy for scoring the fight in favor of Petr Yan.
