Anthony Smith Could've Beaten Jon Jones In Their Title Fight

After winning his belt back by beating Alexander Gustafsson, Jon Jones defended his title against Anthony Smith at UFC 235.

Anthony Smith was on a three-fight winning streak leading up to his fight against Jon Jones.

And Anthony Smith was one of the most experienced opponents of Jon Jones with over 50 MMA fight and many kickboxing fights.

However, Jon Jones' skillset and fight IQ was too much for Smith as he got dominated for five rounds.

There was an opporunity for Anthony Smith to hand another DQ loss to Jon Jones in round 4 after the former light heavyweight champion landed an illegal knee.

But, Anthony Smith showed incredible sportsmanship and decided not to take the easy way out.

Following the fight, Anthony Smith said he did not want to become a UFC champion with a DQ win.

Smith has been able to get his MMA career back on track with three consecutive wins recently. And he is very close to getting another title shot as he takes on Magomed Anklaev in his next fight.
