Charles Oliveira Becomes Second Fighter After Khabib Nurmagomedov To Miss Weight In First Attempt In Championship Fight

Charles Oliveira was scheduled to defend his title against Justin Gaethje at UFC 274.

But unfortunately, Oliveira missed the weight mark in the first attempt before the event.

This isn't the first time for a fighter has missed weight for a title match.

Khabib Nurmagomedov missed weight in his first attempt back at UFC 254 against Justin Gaethje.

Fortunately for Khabib, he made it in the second attempt.

For missing weight in his second attempt, Oliveira was stripped of the UFC gold.

Oliveira was given an hour to fit into the weight category, but he missed the mark by 0.5lbs.

Oliveira is the first and the only champion in UFC to miss weight to be stripped of a title on the scale.

Now, according to the UFC rules, Oliveira and Gaethje will compete for the vacant title.

Justin Gaethje takes home the title if he wins, while Oliveira leaves the octagon empty handed, irrespective of the result.
