Matt McCarthy reveals CM Punk wasn't too pleased with his promo script and declined to put over The Rock.
CM Punk reigned supreme as the WWE Champion of the world and recorded the longest reign at 434 days at the time.
The Rock would go on to win the rematch as well as the Elimination Chamber, cementing himself for a rematch at WrestleMania.
“I remember Punk being handed a promo about The Rock and him refusing to [say it],” McCarthy said. “He’s like, ‘So now I’ve got to f***ing put over The Rock? F*** that.’ I remember that happening. I don’t recall anyone walking out per se.” McCarthy revealed.
However, CM Punk did not walk-out of the programming despite his concern with the WWE creative, which wasn't the case as Sasha Banks and Naomi left the show after failing to come to terms with the company.
In the past, CM Punk has opened up on his relationship with The Rock. He has publicly opined how he didn't want his Championship reign to be ended up a "part-timer".
