How Did Anderson Silva Break his Leg

Anderson Silva's greatness inside the octagon can be measured from his impeccable record during his title reign as Middleweight Champion. The Spider was untouchable for nearly a decade and went on a 16 fight win streak inside the octagon until UFC 168, where  a horrific incident nearly ended his career.

After losing the first round, Silva threw a leg kick that was checked by Weidman.

Silva suffers a brutal injury that breaks his both Tibia and Fibula of the leg.

After the incident, fight fans around the world were shocked as arguably the mixed martial artists GOAT screamed in pain and agony as he was carried out of the Octagon.  It took two more years before Silva made his emphatic return to the Octagon,

With two back to back losses, and an ugly mark on his resume with a failed drug test, Silva was never the same again. He lost to Michael Bisping and then at UFC 200 on shot notice moved to Light Heavyweight but  got dominated by Daniel Cormier

Anderson Silva has stated that he regards current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya as one of the best to ever do it.  Needless to say, Adesanya also considers Anderson as his inspiration.

Another Leg Injury! The Will to Continue...

Anderson once again stepped foot inside the octagon at UFC 237. But this time against another top middleweight contender Jared Cannonier. The already compromised leg of Silva could not keep pace with Cannonier's leg kicks and hence Silva suffered another defeat, this time in front of his home crowd at Rio.
