According to reports, The WWE was planning to turn Randy Orton against his tag team partner Matt Riddle upon his return.

WrestleVotes reported that, when Randy Orton got injured in May 2022, the internal plan was to turn him heel and have him feud with his tag team partner after his return.

Randy Orton's last match in the WWE was on the May 20 edition of Smackdown where RKBro lost to the Usos in a tag team championship unification match.

It was reported that the former WWE champion was suffering from a long-term back injury and may need to undergo surgery to get rid of the problem.

This may keep Orton out of action for the rest of 2022 and the fans will have to wait a bit longer to see The Viper in action.

There were several reports coming out that the initial plan was to have Randy Orton face off against Roman Reigns at SummerSlam earlier this year. That spot was taken by Brock Lesnar instead.

There are no confirmed time frames on when the Apex predator will be returning to the ring. Initially, WWE was internally expecting him to be back by September 2022.

Orton is yet to compete since Triple H took over and it'll be interesting to see what direction Triple H will choose for the former Evolution member. Fans expect Orton to be back by Royal Rumble.
