Former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has given his take on Khamzat Chimaev missing weight ahead of UFC 279.

In a recent event Khabib said, "If you are a Muslim, you should have good people around you – Muslims who can say: ‘Hey, don’t do this,'"

Khabib also said that when you're rich and famous there are no good people around you who will give you advice. You need good people, even if you don’t like them.

Former lightweight champion Khabib has himself failed to make weight on several occasions during his UFC career.

Chimaev was overweight by nearly 8 pounds at the UFC 279 ahead of his fight against Nate Diaz in the main event.

Chimaev went on to fight Kevin Holland in a catchweight bout at the UFC 279's co-main event. He submitted Kevin Holland in the very first round.
