Ahead of UFC 279, Joe Rogan knew about Chimaev's missing weight and what Dana White was trying to do before anyone else.

Rogan told his fellow commentator Jon Anik about White's plan but asked him to keep it confidential.

“I was sworn to secrecy by the great Joe Rogan, who called me at 9:30 in the morning and suggested that this was what Dana White was trying to do.” Jon Anik told.

Jon Anik didn't spill any beans and only talked about Irene Aldana and Macy Chiasson's catchweight bout until the official announcement.

After Chimaev missed weight by nearly 8 pounds, he was shifted to the co-main event. Chimaev got matched up against Kevin Holland while Tony Ferguson replace him in the main event to fight Nate Diaz.

In the co-main event, Chimaev submitted Holland in the very first round. This was Chimaev's sixth consecutive win since his UFC debut.

In the main event, Diaz and Ferguson fought a competitive bout till the fourth round where Diaz submitted Ferguson to end his UFC career on a high.
