The UFC welterweight revealed that Masvidal had sent a DM to his wife Gina Amir Atelier, prior to the fight, and he remains completely clueless about the same.
“He sent an emoji to my wife, the emoji with the two hands together like ‘amen.’ He sent it to my wife. He didn’t send it to me. I’ve never actually crossed paths with him. I didn’t have a chance to ask him, so I figured I really want to understand. But I might as well understand inside the octagon, settle it over there.” Pereira said.
Pereira, 28, is still young in his mixed martial arts journey, but has an experience of 41 professional fights to his name.
While it's not clear why Masvidal sent the emoji to Michel Pereira's wife, it's needless to say he has Pereira's attention.
Jorge Masvidal is currently without a fight, having lost on his last three fights; twice against Kamaru Usman and most recently against Colby Covington. Pereira will finally break into the top-15 of the UFC's welterweight rankings. However, that might not be enough for Pereira to land a Masvidal fight.
While it's safe to say that the message meant something, it doesn't seem likely that Masvidal was teasing his next fight. Despite the losses, Gamebred has a lot of options ahead of him and a fight against someone out of top-10 is not a great sign.
