Khabib Nurmagomedov retired after beating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. The Eagle has a MMA record of 29-0.
Khabib Nurmagomedov announced his retirement because of the promise he made to his mother after the tragic death of his father.
Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov passed away due to COVID before Khabib Nurmagomedov's title defense against Justin Gaethje.
Even though The Eagle honored his mother's wish and announced retirement, that is not the way Abdulmanap wanted his son to retire.
As per reports, Abdulmanap wanted Khabib Nurmagomedov to retire with a record of 30-0. And he wanted the last fight to be against GSP.
"For Khabib, 30-0 is enough": Abdulmanap once said. He also wanted Khabib's last fight to take place in Moscow.
"Regarding his last fight, then, of course, we would like his final title defence to be in Moscow": Abdulmanap stated.
Khabib Nurmagomedov is happily retired now and has become a coach to many Dagestani fighters including Islam Makhachev and Usman Nurmagomedov.
