Khabib Nurmagomedov's Unbeaten MMA Record is Overrated?

Khabib Nurmagomedov certainly has an impressive unbeaten record with 29 wins with 13 of them coming in UFC.

But, how impressive is that record when compared to Charles Oliveira's. Let's find out.

Both Khabib and Oliveira made their pro-MMA debut in 2008. While Oliveira has 41 MMA fights(33 wins and 8 losses) Khabib has 29 fights.

But, Oliveira has 30 fights in UFC while Khabib only has 13 fights.

Charles Oliveira was a young prospect when he made his UFC debut and he took on veterans such as Donald Cerrone, Jim Miller, Cub Swanson, Frankie Edgar, and the list goes on.

However, Khabib was fighting outside of UFC against opponents, who are not as good as the opponents Oliveira faced in his early UFC career.

Khabib Nurmagomedov had a close fight against Glieson Tibau in his early UFC career. Many fans even claim that The Eagle lost that fight.

It can't be disputed that Khabib turned into one of the greatest fighters ever at the later end of his MMA career beating opponents such as Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje.

However, it must be considered that Oliveira suffered those losses in his early career fighting world champion and former number one title contenders.

And had Khabib fought those levels of opponents in his early career there is a possibility that he would not have beaten all of them.

Though credit must be given to Khabib for his unbeaten MMA record, his MMA record is not as impressive as other UFC legends such as Jon Jones or GSP because of the level of opponents he has faced in his career.
