Khamzat Chimaev vs Nate Diaz is almost official after Brett Okamoto of ESPN confirmed that both the fighters have verbally agreed to fight each other.
Chimaev and Diaz are set to lock horns inside the Octagon inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in the main event of UFC 279 in September.
Ahead of the fight, Chimaev has sent a warning to the fans where he promises to handle the funeral of Nate Diaz.
"I am going to handle Nate Diaz’s funeral with the UFC,” Chimaev said via Brett Okamoto of ESPN. This will be the last fight on Nate Diaz's current UFC contract.
UFC has been planning for Chimaev vs Diaz for quite some time now. Earlier, Dana White's boardroom got leaked during a podcast, confirming UFC was looking to book Diaz and Chimaev all along.
Needless to say, it's a tough match-up for Diaz, who has only slowed down in recent years and going against someone as young as Chiimaev, it's certainly going to be a huge problem for the Stockton Slugger.
Fight fans are already calling it a nightmare match-up for Nate Diaz. May have even proclaimed that Khamzat Chimaev will finish Nate Diaz inside two rounds in the Octagon.
The fight is yet to be officially confirmed. However, it goes without saying, Chimaev vs Diaz will go down as one of the biggest fights in UFC history.
