Khamzat Chimaev grew up in Chechnya, but later moved to Sweded. The UFC's welterweight contender reveals more about is childhood in a recent interview with ESPN.
Khamzat Chimaev was 19 when his family decided to leave Chechnya and move to Sweden.
Chimaev recalls he didn't want to move to Sweden because he didn't want to leave his friends in Chechnya.
"When we come here, was a very small village, but here as well. I didn't know somebody. We didn't have a gym as well there. One year it was hard for me." Khamzat said.
"If you stay some place long time, it's like becomes like your home, you know."
Khamzat Chimaev's brother lived in Sweden, and asked him to move to Sweden for the family.
Khamzat Chimaev always dreamed of ways to make his life better, living in a small apartment in Sweden with his mother, brother, and sister. Needless to say, he has achieved all that and more.
