La Lakers Signing Kyrie Irving Is a Bad Idea

Kyrie Irving has a problem on his hands as his contract negotiations with the Brooklyn Nets have reached a dead-end.

The Nets star has a $36.9m player option that he has to make a decision on by 30th June, when free agency is expected to start.

The 30-year-old has managed to average 27.4 PPG, 4.4 RPG & 5.8 APG this season.

Despite missing many games this season due to his stand on the mandatory vaccination issue, Kyrie has managed to put up some impressive numbers.

However, due to his current contract situation, there seems to be interest from other franchises, mainly the Lakers.

We think the move will be bad for the Lakers, even if they manage to offload Russell Westbrook in a trade for Kyrie.

The main reason why we think Kyrie would be a bad choice for Lakers is his off-court actions. He seems to bring controversy with him every where he moves.

There were reports in the past that said Kyrie did not want to play alongside LeBron at Cavs, and requested a trade.

Lakers should go for a younger option to help them become a title contending team again and not Kyrie who might not help them after LeBron retires. Zach LaVine or Luka Doncic could be good options.
