JR Smith and LeBron James have a history of playing together for several NBA teams, and they have won two championships together with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Playing alongside a 19-time all-star like LeBron can be very nerve-racking and stressful. Smith explained in a recent interview how playing with LeBron might have a negative impact on your mental health.

On the latest episode of Game Theory with Bomani Jones, Smith revealed that playing alongside LeBron James is both a gift and a curse.

"Honestly, it’s a gift and a curse playing with Bron," Smith said. "I love Bron to death, and I loved playing on his team because, for me, I feel I thrived more under the pressure."

He continued, "But a lot of guys don’t like it because it can go one of two ways, It’s either, what did you not do to help him win? And, who else didn’t help to not help him win?"

Smith went on to explain that playing on a team with James needs a great deal of mental toughness and that, without it, you would fail.

"It’s always gonna be that supporting cast of who’s not doing what, and if you’re not built for that, not made for that, it’s gonna eat you alive," he said.

James is currently out with a right foot injury sustained during a game against the Dallas Mavericks and he is expected to be reevaluated in three weeks which would bring him back in court on March 23 at the earliest.
