Luke Rockhold is set to return against #4 ranked Costa in his return.
Rockhold was earlier set to take on Sean Strickland back in November of 2021 at FUC 268. However, he had to pull out of the bout due to a herniated disc.
Luke Rockhold last competed inside the Octagon back in July of 2019 where he lost to Jan Blachowicz via KO in the second round. The fight marked the second straight loss for Rockhold, forcing him to take the hiatus.
“I like Paulo, I like this fight, I like this weight,” Rockhold told ESPN. “I want to fight him at ’85, yeah. I’ll give him five-pound allowance. If he can’t make 190, f*ck off and let’s move on." Rockhold has said about the fight.
Luke Rockhold and Paulo Costa will share the UFC Octagon on July 30 inside American Airlines Center in Dallas at UFC 277.
Rockhold's entire MMA career can be described in last five fights. He won the Championship gold, dropped it in his next fight, and then two successive losses with a win in the middle, and here we are almost three years later.
Paulo Costa on the other hand is coming off a decisive loss against Marvin Vettori and will look to jump back to the winning column after suffering back to back losses.
