Michael Chandler is arguably the best Lightweight outside of the UFC

Here's a look at his nerve injury from Bellator-180  that almost ended his career.

Michael Chandler is arguably one of the best Lightweights to ever grace the octagon.  He is a former 2 time Bellator LW Champion & has fought some of the who's who of the division for well over a decade  now.

Bellator-180

Chandler was set to headline the first Bellator card in New York. It was an exciting card, also featuring the final fight of the Heavyweight GOAT, Fedor Emelianenko's Legendary career. But it was an anti-climatic end to the event with Chandler's injury.

"Foot Drop"

Underdog Brent Primus was able to over throw Chandler after a brutal Leg kick injured several nerves of Chandler's left ankle. The Injury was called the "Foot Drop".

Doctor's Stoppage

In one of the most bizarre ways to win, Primus was given the TKO victory after the doctor called an end to the contest. Even though Chandler was willing to fight back as he had already dropped Primus twice in the first round, even after the injury, he was in full control of the fight.

Later Chandler defeated Primus and regained the LW title. Now Chandler is at his prime and is ready for a run in the UFC LW division, As he has already captured a title shot against Oliveira.
