Conor McGregor might not be a champion in any division right now.
But, he is still the biggest star in the sport of MMA. And his incredible journey started in the UFC featherweight division.
After winning two titles in Cage Warriors, Conor McGregor made his UFC debut and dominated the UFC featherweights.
After four dominant wins at 145, Conor McGregor fought Chad Mendes for the interim featherweight title at UFC 189.
Conor McGregor went into that fight with a torn ACL and Chad Mendes was the short-notice replacement for Jose Aldo.
Instead of a matchup against a striker in Jose Aldo, Conor found himself against Chad Mendes who was one of the best wrestlers in the division at the moment.
However, despite all of the odds, McGregor won the interim title and after 7 years, McGregor gets nostalgic of that win as he tweeted: "Hey guys! 7 years ago today I won my first UFC World Title in a bruiser of a bout! Iconic and historic! You can Watch the story of it all and how I did it, right NOW on Netflix."
A documentry named "Notorious" was released on Netflix in 2017 that captured the journey of McGregor of. becoming a UFC champion.
