It is well known that Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic have a strong rivalry and have engaged in many thrilling matches throughout the years. Despite their rivalry, they have a lot of respect for one another.

But, according to Novak, Roger Federer wasn't his main tennis competitor. He acknowledges, "I'm still playing because Rafael Nadal is my biggest rival. His presence encourages me to continue."

Novak claimed, “Well, best and biggest rival that I ever had is Nadal. We played 59 times against each other which is the most that any two players faced each other in the history of the game."

"I'm glad that both of us are competing for the big titles. And I believe that the major reason we continue to compete at a high level is that either he continues because I am still going, or the opposite." Novak said.

"I think this rivalry is wonderful in that respect. And I have the feeling that many tennis and sports fans throughout the world still want us to play until we can't anymore." he added.

Nadal is always the top favourite to win championships throughout the clay season, according to Novak. "He is always, without a doubt, the favourite at every clay court competition, notably in Paris."

Djokovic won the Australian Open in January, tying Nadal for the most Grand Slam victories in history with 22. In late May and early June, Djokovic will attempt to win his third French Open championship.

Nadal is focused on setting a record for the 15th French Open title and beating Djokovic again in the race for the Grand Slam. Nadal had the most success in the French Open, but Djokovic had a strong start and is confident about his chances this year.
