UFC star Conor McGregor pays pays heartfelt tribute following the death of a close family member.

The former two-division champion took over Instagram and wrote an endearing message to pay tribute to his maternal uncle Dan, who passed away recently.

"Rest In Peace my uncle Dan! Armies all over the shop we have the sky the lot. Word to me nanny! Yup the Moore’s!", wrote McGregor.

Conor McGregor has always been close to his family. Uncle Dan was one of McGregor's mother's 11 siblings.

The UFC star is yet to back in octagon since July last year in UFC 264. He last faught Dustin Poirier where he met a severe injury.

McGregor return remains uncertain as he hasn't full recovered from the ankle snap he suffered last year. The Irish fighter is still optimistic to be back and win at some point.

McGregor's last win came back in Jan 2020 at UFC 246. He knocked out Donald Cerrone in his welterweight debut and became the first fighter to have wins by TKO in three divisions.

Conor McGregor still remains the biggest star in the UFC. In his last fight against Poirier, UFC saw over 1.8 million pay-per-view buys.

Conor McGregor actively showcases his life on social media and has over 46 million Instagram followers, the most out of any MMA fighter.
