Roman Reigns Reveals He Was "Going To Retire" Ahead of WrestleMania 38

The Tribal Chief has been ruling WWE ever since he made his return at SummerSlam 2020.

And ahead of the Biggest WrestleMania Match in WWE History, Roman Reigns has revealed a shocking detail about his current run.

Roman Reigns relinquished the Universal Championship in 2018 due to the return of his leukemia.

He dropped out of his Universal Championship match at WrestleMania 36 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

And was planning to not return to the company, effectively going into retirement.

Speaking to ESPN's Marc Raimondi, Reigns revealed that the only returned to WWE at SummerSlam 2020 because Vince McMahon agreed to his terms.

Those being that the entire concept & run of The Tribal Chief character would be unscripted and personally overseen by Reigns & Paul Heyman.

Both men were only willing to return to WWE for this particular storyline; and we're glad that for once, Vince listened.
