American tennis star, Serena Williams locked horns against World No. 2 Anett Kontaveit in the second round of the 2022 US Open.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion was not the favorite to win, but she surprised everyone and won the match with a score of 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-2.

Before the tournament started Serena revealed that this would be the last tournament of her career as she wants to focus more on her family.

However, after an amazing start to the tournament, there might be some change in the decision as Serena mentioned that she is in no hurry to retire.

Serena believes that she has still a lot to offer on the court and will be looking to extend her time as a professional player even though she will be turning 41 soon.

She said, "I’m just looking at it as a bonus. I don’t have anything to prove. I have absolutely nothing to lose. I’ve had an ‘X’ on my back since 1999.”

To this, a fan reacted saying, "Am I seeing some 07 AO vibes here from #Serena? An icon. The GOAT. Ranked outside the top 600 and beats the world number 2. OMG."

Serena Williams has now entered the third round of the tournament and she is clearly looking like one of the favorites to lift the title.
