UFC Champion Threatens to Leave Weight Class After Recent Announcement

Deiveson Figueiredo threatens to leave the flyweight division after disapproval with the UFC.

It seems like UFC's recent announcement for an interim title fight between Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-France has not gone well with the flyweight champ!

Figueiredo reigns as the UFC flyweight champion

Deiveson Figueiredo defeated Brandon Moreno back at UFC 270 via unanimous decision to reclaim his flyweight gold.

Scribbled Underline

Figueiredo was scheduled to defend his gold against Moreno in a fourth fight, however, the Brazilian fighter decided to give the chance to Kai Kara-France instead, accusing Moreno pf passing racial slurs.

Unfortunately, even that didn't go down as Figueiredo revealed that he is nursing a hand injury and will be out till December this year.

Taking that into account, UFC decided to book Brandon Moreno vs Kai Kara-France for the interim flyweight gold.

“I am very disappointed. I confess to you that I seriously think about leaving the category. Who saved this division was me, Henry Cejudo, and with this one from the UFC, I’m honestly about to make decisions." Figueiredo said.

"I hope I don’t take them, but if I do, I’ll leave the division and go up to [135 pounds]." He further added.

Deiveson Figueiredo planning to move to the Bantamweight division.

Do you think an flyweight title fight

UFC has definitely increased the number of interim title fights in the recent past and it makes sense considering Moreno vs Figueiredo 3 was a close fight and Kai Kara-France has earned his spot at the flyweight gold.
