WWE veteran John Cena made his much-anticipated return to the WWE on this week's Raw. He was confronted by the United States Champion Austin Theory right after his arrival.

The duo had a war of words where both of them insulted each other before setting up a WrestleMania 39 match for the United States Championship.

The segment had a major talking point where Cena revealed that he almost got fired by the WWE during his initial run during the WWE's Ruthless Aggression Era.

“Right now you’re in the phase of ruthless aggression and ruthless aggression almost got me fired. I didn’t believe in myself and the opportunity just wasn’t enough.” Cena said during the promo.

Cena was set to be fired from the WWE after making a huge impact on his WWE debut in 2002. Due to his character's failure to connect with the fans, WWE was planning to release him.

The WWE legend was able to turn things around soon by going through a complete character change. He came back as the "Doctor of Thugonomics" and the character's success helped him escape the release.

Cena was then able to go on an unbelievable run in the WWE as he became the face of the promotion for over a decade. He also won the WWE title a record equalling 16 times.

The WWE universe is eagerly waiting to see the "Leader of Cenation" make his return to the ring. Fans hope that Cena will be able to win another US championship in his career at WrestleMania 39.
