Silver by profession is a lawyer and earned a degree in political science from Duke University. He then attended law school at the University of Chicago. He worked as an associate at a New York-based law firm, Cravath, Swaine & Moore. According to The Chronicle, Adam Silver confessed to litigation not being his ideal career choice. “You’d get in a car, and you’d go to Delaware for some filing, and you’d stay up all night at the printer,” said Silver. “You kind of felt like all the action’s [elsewhere].”
Since he was appointed the NBA commissioner, he has done a fantastic job. As for his salary, he is paid $10 million a year, one that is deserving of the work he has done so far. Silver is in his 9th year as the commissioner. His reported net worth is estimated at $40 million as of 2023.
When was Adam Silver appointed as NBA’s commissioner?
Silver was a huge basketball fall ever since he attended his first NBA game with his father. His father took him to a New York Knicks game, this is where he started enjoying it. He made career changes and took an interest in business. Interestingly, former commissioner David Stern worked in the same law firm where Adam’s father worked. Silver worked for Davis Stern as an assistant and learned much from him, “I feel like I can’t thank him enough,” said Silver.
