Olajide William Olatunji also popularly known as KSI is one of the biggest superstars in the United Kingdom. The YouTuber has millions of followers on his social media pages and has been entertaining people for over a decade now.
Over the last few years, YouTube boxing has grabbed the spotlight of fans around the world and has gained a lot of popularity. It is safe to say that KSI is one of the major reasons for the success of these events. Because the British YouTuber was one of the first creators to have stepped inside the ring in a boxing match.
KSI squared off against Logan Paul who is one of the biggest YouTube creators of the USA twice and these matchups were a spectacle to watch, given their pre-fight banter and bitter rivalry. As we move ahead let’s dive into the scorecards and the results of the two fights between the two YouTubers.
Scorecard and analysis of the two fights between KSI and Logan Paul
The first fight between Jeje and Logan took place in August 2018 in Manchester and it was an intense battle that went to the distance. After the end of six rounds, one judge scored the contest 58-57 in favour of KSI and two of the judges scored the contest 57-57 consequently, the first fight resulted in a majority draw.
Speaking about this matchup, The Maverick had outstriked KSI significantly throughout the six rounds. However, it was the Nightmare who landed the power shots and troubled Paul with his jabs. It is needless to say that the first fight was extremely close with both boxers gaining an edge in one department over the other.
Soon after their first fight resulted in a draw, these two boxers were scheduled to fight each other in a rematch at the Staples Center on November 10th 2019. This rematch was a pro fight with both KSI and Logan fighting with 10oz gloves.
Just like the first fight, the rematch was razor-close with both KSI and Logan showing tremendous improvement in their boxing skills. Jeje was very aggressive from the get-go as he closed down the distance and landed some good strikes. The talking point of the fight was the fourth round where Logan Paul dropped KSI with an uppercut.
Interestingly, the referee counted the knockdown but deducted two points from Logan due to a punch behind the head and a push. This decision proved to be game changing as KSI won the fight via split decision (55-56, 57-54, 56-55).
Another sequence that was very controversial was the KSI’s knockdown that was chalked off by the referee as he called it a shot to the back of the head. However, in replays, it was clear that Jeje’s overhand right was just behind the ear. Nonetheless, it was a spectacular showdown with brilliant moments for both the boxers.
But in the end, it was KSI who had the last laugh as he outclassed Logan Paul and got the better of him in the rematch.
