Just when boxing fans around the world were getting excited for the hugely anticipated Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua, we were met with Deontay Wilder proving to be a huge hurdle after he won the arbitration case against Tyson Fury, forcing a trilogy bout, leaving Joshua to take on mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk. And after everything was said and done, we are here with Anthony Joshua no longer the heavyweight champion of the world, and Oleksandr Usyk picking fans’ interest for a possible fight against Tyson Fury next. Remember, that too, if Tyson Fury gets past Deontay Wilder in the trilogy fight.

So where does Anthony Joshua go from here? Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that there is a possibility that Joshua could put in effect the rematch clause to earn another chance at securing his heavyweight title back.
Who should Anthony Joshua fight next?
Anthony Joshua still has a lot of options ahead of him. While a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk is always on the cards, Joshua could also look to have a fresher opponent in his next fight. Boxing fans around the world are floating the idea of a possible Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder. However, that is a possibility should Wilder drop the trilogy bout against Tyson Fury set to go down on October 7 for the WBC and The Ring heavyweight titles.
“The fighter in AJ is already talking about, ‘I’ll win the rematch.’ Usyk was the deserved winner. He’s got to make changes in the rematch. He will want to go straight back into that rematch.” Eddie Hearn said about AJ’s next step following the loss against Oleksandr Usyk.
The possibility of Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder has floated in the past when the Bronze Bomber reigned as the WBC heavyweight champion of the world. It won’t be wrong to say that a lot depends on the result of Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder, however, it does look like AJ will push for a rematch as he has in the past.
Anthony Joshua put in effect the rematch clause after losing the fight with Andy Ruiz Jr. back in June of 2019. AJ bounced back stronger in the rematch, putting up a clinical performance against Ruiz later in December in the same year, to once again become the heavyweight champion of the world. Can Anthony Joshua do it again against Oleksandr Usyk? Looking at how Usyk dominated AJ, it will be easier said than done.
