Vincent Kennedy McMahon, popularly known as Vince McMahon, is the executive chairman of WWE. The promotion is the largest pro wrestling company in the world. Besides that, he is also a great businessman and media proprietor.
However, he was also seen as a participant in several wrestling matches. Since 1969, he had been making onscreen appearances in the Stamford-based promotion. Primarily he played the role of a commentator, but soon adopted a gimmick named ‘Mr. McMahon’.
While playing the character of ‘Mr. McMahon’, he took part in many matches and won several Championships. This includes winning the WWE Championship.
Since October 2012, McMahon has made sporadic appearances. However, the last time McMahon appeared on WWE television in a match was at WrestleMania 38. At the event, Austin Theory faced Pat McAfee, with Vince watching the match.
After McAfee defeated Theory, he called out McMahon for an impromptu match. The match was won by the WWE boss. Following the match, Stone Cold Steve Austin came out and nailed a Stunner on Theory, McMahon, and McAfee.
In July 2022, he announced his retirement from the Stamford-based promotion. He made his return to the company later and also appeared in the January 6, 2023, episode of WWE SmackDown. However, the appearance lasted for a few minutes. Since then, the WWE Universe has been wondering about the WWE Boss’ next appearance on WWE television.
The return of Vince McMahon to WWE
After officially announcing his retirement from the Stamford-based promotion in July 2022, Vince McMahon stepped down as CEO and Chairman of the company. Following that, his daughter took up his duties. Also, his son-in-law, Triple H, became the head of creative.
However, he returned for the promotion next year. In January 2023, he became the executive chairman of WWE. It was reported that McMahon returned to the company to take care of a potential sale of the company. Later in April, the parent company of the UFC acquired WWE. It was reported that Endeavor would merge the two industrial giants, WWE and UFC, to form a new company.

The merger was completed on September 12, 2023. Furthermore, it has been established that McMahon will remain the new company’s executive chairman.
However, now that Vince McMahon has returned to WWE in a corporate role, it remains to be seen if he will make an appearance on WWE television, moving forward. Also, the WWE Universe would wait eagerly to see if there would be any changes following the merger.
