Last Saturday, the authorities found 73-year-old Myrtle Brown’s lifeless body near a stream behind her home after her worried family couldn’t reach her or her son. This was shared in a news release by the Maywood Police Department.
This Sunday, Sergio Brown’s brother Nick Brown took to social media and shared a post captioning, “My brother Sergio is still missing,” Nick Brown wrote on Instagram. “If anyone knows where he is I want him to know that I love you and please come home.”

Nick Brown emotionally shared about his mother and shared, “Thank you, everyone, for all of your outreach, help, love and condolences. It’s a sad but hopeful time, and we will all get through this together. Mom always told me, “tough times don’t last” and our last conversation about tough times being temporary is my beacon of hope.
Mom, thank you for being strong, caring, diligent, fancy, funny, and for saving my art. I won’t let you down.”
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed later that Myrtle Brown’s death was because of the injuries from the attack. They called it a homicide, based on information from CNN’s partner WBBM.
The police acted fast, blocking the street where it happened in Maywood. The community was shocked and saddened, struggling to comprehend what happened. Carlos Cortez, Myrtle Brown’s neighbor told WBBM, “Myrtle, she was an outstanding woman, and I’m hoping she’s in the right place and she’s with God, I never would’ve expected this in a million years.”
The investigation into Sergio Brown’s whereabouts is ongoing, and his brother urged the public not to approach their family property but to contact the Maywood police with any relevant information. An anonymous tip line has been set up for individuals to provide information, and the lead investigator, Dennis Diaz, is actively pursuing the case. Efforts are underway to gather more details from Brown family members.

“Upon conducting a second and wider search of the area, Myrtle Brown was discovered unresponsive near a creek to the rear of her residence,” as detailed in a police press release.
Later, her body was taken to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
