Chris Masters was briefly considered a potential WWE main-eventer. He had the look Vince needed, a flawless and traditional wrestling persona, and was gradually winning over the fans. But things went south and Chris left WWE in 2007.
Christopher Todd Mordetzky is better known as Chris Masters among WWE fans. “The Masterpiece” Chris Masters made his WWE debut as a villain on Raw, displaying his physique in bodybuilding poses as he entered the ring. Masters made his Raw debut on February 21, 2005, defeating Stevie Richards.
Soon afterward, Masters began being marketed as possessing an unbreakable version of the Full Nelson submission hold, which he nicknamed ‘Master Lock’. Masters’ surge continued, as he continued to pick up one win after another, with only a few losses in total.
However, there were already hints of turmoil in Masters’ life by mid-2006. Despite high-profile feuds and bouts with John Cena, Kurt Angle, and Shawn Michaels, Masters’ stock began to fall due to a string of substance abuse issues that eventually led to his dismissal.
His second run, however, was short, as he was downgraded to a lower card role and released in August 2011. Masters then wrestled under the ring name Chris Adonis in the NWA, Impact Wrestling, and later Qatar Pro-Wrestling.
Is Chris Masters returning to WWE Royal Rumble 2023?
With the WWE Royal Rumble rapidly approaching, fans have begun to speculate on who might feature in the namesake event. Some have mentioned former WWE star Chris Masters, who has expressed a desire to compete in the Royal Rumble.
Masters, however, took to Twitter to deliver bad news to those wanting to see the return of “The Masterpiece” on January 28. He stated that WWE did not contact him about participating in the event, although some fans believe he will show.
Sorry to say I have not been contacted for The Rumble and will almost certainly not be taking part at this point.

Along with an appearance at the Royal Rumble, Masters has expressed interest in a possible program versus Bobby Lashley. Masters and Lashley have a history since Lashley was the first WWE star to break Masters’ Masterlock, and he has since used the maneuver as one of his finishers, dubbing it the Hurt Lock and using it to win the WWE Championship.
Chris Masters has grown as wrestler and as a person now. He brings a sense of maturity and he can work with the new generation of WWE talents. The Royal Rumble is always full of surprises, which fans enjoy.
Many ex-superstars, including Edge, Christian, and Carlito, made shocking and unexpected appearances at Rumble. As a result, no one knows what will happen on the day of the event.
