The WWE Hall of Famer Bret “Hitman” Hart hated “The Game” Triple H in real life in the early 1990s. The Hitman claimed on his podcast, Confessions with the Hitman, that Shawn Michaels and Triple H wanted him to leave WWE.
In recent years, The Hitman has aimed multiple times at Triple H. According to Bret Hart, Triple H has always been an overrated wrestler. “Triple H was always a good wrestler, but great? I don’t know. What, he’s a thousand-time World Champion now? I don’t know, how great really is he? But you see, this talent out there sometimes, and then you look at someone like Triple H.”
Additionally, Triple H shouldn’t be allowed to train wrestlers, according to Hart, since he has proven nothing. He also felt that the Game was never part of a great WWE match. “Like one move that he created that no one ever saw before? Some high spots or an idea for a match? I don’t know what he ever brought to the table. He’s mostly a guy that showed up and they’ve made him; he’s always been a decent wrestler, but great? I don’t know; I don’t think so.”

Moreover, Bret Hart said that the only reason the WWE recognizes Triple H is that his father-in-law is Vincent Kennedy McMahon. “There’s always some guys, you know, that no matter what they do with them, you always wonder how they got there. And I never thought Triple H ever had an idea, an original idea, for anything. And I always thought he was overrated. The only reason people even know him or remember him today is that (of) daddy, daddy-in-law.”
Bret Hart revealed that he and Triple H simply trade formal greetings when they meet and do not talk.
Reason behind the rivalry between Triple H and Bret Hart
Bret Hart and Triple H have never been on the same page. Even before the attitude era ever began, the feud between the two dates all the way back to the 1990s. This rivalry may have been sparked by the iconic “Montreal Screw Job,” which occurred in Hitman’s hometown of Montreal.
Triple H has been the target of repeated attacks from Hart, including claims that he is overrated and that WWE only knows of him because he is the boss’s son-in-law.
Although the real cause of the hatred between these two legends is unknown, it is believed that the Montreal Screwjob may have been a contributing factor because Triple H and Shawn Michaels were known to abuse their power behind the scenes to bury the wrestlers they hated.
Bret Hart has made no secret of his hatred for Triple H, who is currently the COO of WWE. Triple H has never publicly criticized Bret Hart and steers clear of any controversy.
