Can an elite MMA fighter defeat one of the strongest men to walk on this planet? Well, the answer might be yes or no depending upon various factors. But, when UFC lightweight elite Dustin Poirier got into a friendly fight with a multiple-time world’s strongman competition winner, Brain Shaw he managed to submit him.
Recently, Dustin Poirier showed up for an interview with Brian Shaw on his Youtube channel. And the two would get into a friendly fight. The thought of fighting a strong man who has won the strongman title multiple times might seem scary. But, the former interim lightweight champion seemed unphased as he quickly secured a submission by rear-naked choke.

Brian Shaw is a 6’8 ft giant weighing close to 400 lbs. But, when it comes to fighting there are very few fighters on the planet that are as good as Dustin Poirier. Though the full footage of the sparring has not been released it seemed Poirier and Shaw were grappling with each other.
Dustin Poirier is arguably the best lightweight in UFC at the moment after Khabib Nurmagomedov’s MMA retirement. Poirier is coming off a huge win over Conor McGregor at UFC 257. But, the rivalry between him and Conor is not over yet as these two lightweight elites will face each other in a trilogy fight at UFC 264. Now the question is can Dustin Poirier do it again?
Can Dustin Poirier ruin the comeback of Conor McGregor?
It was believed that Conor McGregor would go on to fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov after his fight against Dustin Poirier. However, Poirier ruined the plans for Conor by knocking him out in round 2. He exposed a big hole in Conor’s gameplan and handed him the first-ever knockout loss.
But, it’s expected that Conor McGregor will make the adjustment in the next fight. In the rematch, Conor relied on his boxing skills way too much and paid the price for it. The trilogy will be a lot different from the last fight for sure. But, Poirier will have a huge advantage over Conor.
Conor’s karate stance makes him vulnerable for the calf kicks. And there is no doubt that Poirier will throw a lot of calf kicks in the trilogy. Poirier can also take the fight to the ground and try to exhaust Conor McGregor early in the fight. Dustin Poirier should get the job done again at UFC 262. However, Conor McGregor is one of the finest strikers early in the fight and there is a possibility that he will knock Poirier out inside the first two rounds.
